# How to View and Manage Candidates
> How to view candidates in Exterview, add them yourself by uploading resumes, and review their profile and status.
**Core.** Candidates arrive automatically from your careers page or the systems you're connected to, and you can also add them yourself by uploading resumes. AI evaluation runs afterward, once a candidate is attached to a role.
## Before you start
You need an active account and permission to manage candidates. See [Manage users and roles](/guides/users-roles).
## Steps
Go to the Candidates area to see everyone in table or card view, and filter by status, score, job, or customer.
Upload resumes (PDF or DOCX) to add candidates yourself. Exterview checks each file and flags anything that isn't a resume or is already in the system. From within a job, you can also pull candidates in from your organization's existing pool.
Open a candidate to see their overview, experience, skills, AI agent reports, and activity, or open their resume to see the AI score breakdown.
Set or change a candidate's status directly from the list. Once they're attached to a role, they're ready for evaluation. See [Running EX Scan](/walkthroughs/ex-scan).
