# How to Read the HR Report

> How to read the competency report generated from an HR round in Microsoft Teams.

**AI.** When an HR round in Microsoft Teams ends, Exterview scores its transcript and recording against the HR round's rubric, and produces one competency report for the round. The round's score feeds the candidate's composite rank on the [Leaderboard](/guides/candidate-leaderboard).

## Before you start

The round needs to have run with the Exterview bot in the meeting. See [Run an HR round in Microsoft Teams](/guides/hr-round-teams).

## Steps

<Steps>

    Open the round's report from the **Decision Center**, or from the
    candidate's record.
  </Step>

    Each report carries one overall score and a recommendation for the round.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Check each competency's score and evidence">
    Read the score and the evidence drawn from the conversation for each
    competency, and any red flags the analysis raised.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Make the decision">
    A person decides and advances or holds the candidate. Every decision change
    needs a stated reason, and no adverse decision is made autonomously.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## Best practices

| <Icon icon="check" /> Do this                                                       | <Icon icon="x" /> Avoid this                                                             |
| ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Read the evidence** behind each competency score. | **Reading the number first.** The score summarizes the evidence; it does not replace it. |
| **Let the report feed the candidate's evaluation,** rather than re-scoring by hand. | **Keeping round notes outside the platform.** They never reach the candidate's record. |
| **Own the call.** Use the report to decide faster and more defensibly. | **Outsourcing the decision to the score.** |
