# Understand Scoring Gates

> How Exterview checks a candidate's report has everything it needs before treating it as complete.

**Core.** This behavior keeps reporting honest by making sure a candidate's report is only shown as complete once the data behind it actually exists.

## Purpose

Before a stage's result counts toward a candidate's report, Exterview confirms the pieces that make up that report are actually there. What's required depends on the stage type — a resume report needs the resume analysis and score, while a phone or voice stage also needs a transcript and recording. This is automatic and built into every report; it isn't something your organization adjusts.

    A small badge next to the candidate's score on the leaderboard, and on any
    shared report link, shows whether everything came through. Hovering it
    lists anything missing, so an incomplete report is never presented as
    final.
