# How to Run EX Scan

> Step-by-step walkthrough for running EX Scan, from creating a role and adding resumes to reviewing the score and summary for each candidate.

A step-by-step walkthrough for running **EX Scan**, Exterview's resume review against a role. EX Scan is **available today**. It runs as a document workflow, so there is no live candidate session.

## Before you start

You need a configured role and one or more candidate resumes to analyze. See [Configure](/configure/overview) and [Session Types](/deploy/session-types).

    Create the role from a job description or an existing template, or open a role you already configured. Role creation is included in EX Scan.

  <Step title="Confirm the match criteria">

  <Step title="Run the review">
    EX Scan reviews each resume against the role and produces a score. The critic layer evaluates the output before it surfaces. See [AI Observability](/monitor/ai-observability).
