Configuration is guided and CS-led, not self-serve. How much you configure depends on where you are in your journey with Exterview.

Configuration depth grows with commitment

How much you configure scales with how far you have committed to Exterview, from a quick proof on one team to full org-wide hiring infrastructure.

Starter

Get started. One team, one role, quick proof. Standard scoring, with no configuration set.

Growth

Explore. Reliability and fit across a few departments. Light department-based configuration with dynamic variables, not the full set.

Enterprise

Commit. The gated decision for the next three to five years. The full configuration set: Foundation, Operations, Governance, tuned to your org.
Starter and Growth are how teams explore Exterview over three to six months. The guided configuration set below (Foundation → Operations → Governance) applies at Enterprise. That is the point where Exterview becomes your long-term hiring infrastructure. Growth supports a couple of department-level configurations with dynamic variables, but not the full gated set.

The Enterprise setup model

At Enterprise, setup runs as one guided sequence and is frozen into a signed configuration before go-live. Each stage builds on the one before it. The Enterprise setup sequence: each stage builds on the one before it, then the full configuration is signed off and frozen so every evaluation is scored the same way.
1

Foundation

Your organization’s structure and what a strong candidate looks like: departments, job families, bands, skills, and responsibilities. This is where your organization’s hyper-calibration layer is built.
2

Operations

The hiring journey that runs on that foundation: sessions, scoring, communications, and integrations.
3

Governance

The controls that wrap the whole thing: access, privacy, compliance, human review, and auditability.
4

Sign-off and freeze

The configuration is reviewed, signed off, and frozen, so every evaluation is scored the same way and stays reproducible.
Hyper-calibration is Enterprise-only and set up once. During Foundation, your competencies, role definitions, and scoring context are captured, taken through a staging journey, validated, and then frozen into your organization’s calibration baseline. Starter and Growth do not have this layer. They run on standard and light department-based configuration. After freeze, changes go through change control and re-baseline to a new version. See Foundation and Calibration.
